About TTT,
Hello, I’m so glad you found this space.
Since its inception, The Textile Therapist (me, hello) has been dreaming, creating, and experimenting with textile arts to create items for all life throws our way. Whether you found me through my instagram @bebebeeshop, my textile therapist tiktok, or have met me out in the wild, I’m happy you’re here!
My mission is to bring ideas to life in the form of art, that we actually love using and that can actually be used (a lot).
Whether you found me through my instagram @bebebeeshop, my textile therapist tiktok, or have met me out in the wild, I’m happy you’re here!
You may know me as Kellie, Liz, or Bebe depending on how or where you met me (going by your middle name growing up then entering the professional realm where we LOVE first names can provide quite the conundrum),
As my own chosen brand name says, I am all about textiles and am also a therapist.
In 2019 I officially began crocheting with the help of a few youtube videos and trips to Joann. Since then my obsession with fiber, creating, and exploring with textiles has grown into a fondness and familiarity of everyday life. During my graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling, creating with textiles was an adaptive way for me to maintain a school/life balance amidst the covid19 pandemic and being fully remote. Learning and growing with textiles was also a way to explore the new state I had recently moved to and build fond memories in. In many ways, this proclivity to create with textiles has present throughout my entire life, I just didn’t have words or names to put with what I was doing.
Since beginning my career as a clinician, and continuing to grow as a textile art creator, I’ve seen themes from mental wellness and creativity overlap more than a few times. For myself, wellbeing and creativity are inseparable. Much of my work is a collection of tangible objects infused with meaning and emotion; excitement of a new skill, patience through a challenging time, familiarity in a new unknown place, and yes even distraction and self-regulation when overstimulated.
Bebebeeshop was created in 2019 as a way to sell my newfound love for crocheted beanies with floofy poofs. The purely aesthetic, dopamine satisfying, sensory thrilling creations were an absolute joy to make, photograph, sell, and dream up again and again. But as my love for crocheting grew, so did my wheelhouse of skills, and that meant there was a lot more than beanies being dreamt up in my spare time. Bebebeeshop will always be my fun, lighthearted, special little space to share accessible creations with the world.
The Textile Therapist was created in the spring of 2023 as I ventured into the uncharted territory where textile creations met therapeutic themes. The Textile Therapist is more of a concept brought to life through the making of meaning. As The Textile Therapist, I hope to create objects embodying concepts that can imbue an environment with satisfied needs. My goal is to create items we can love and use that ground us somewhere between in comfort and awe. To read more about my perspective of textile and mental health Click here to learn more.
